Design with the Land presents selected projects by contemporary landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University GSD from 1991-96. Works presented include a redesign of the Tuileries Garden in Paris, the Minneapolis Sculpture Extension at the Walker Art Center, courtyards for the New School of Social Research in New York City and a corporate client in Paris, and numerous private gardens across the United States.
Design with the Land includes a preface by Peter G. Rowe, an introduction by Will Miller, essays by John Beardsley, James Corner, and Paula Deitz, and selected project descriptions by Mildred Friedman.
