CARLOS GARCIAVELEZ Y CORTAZAR, B.Arch (Universidad de Anahuac), M.Des. (Harvard)

Mr. Garciavelez is vice-president and director of architecture and urban design of Geo. He has over thirty years of experience as an architect and urban designer, and has designed over 250,000 affordable housing units, in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador and the USA. Twenty-two national and seven international architectural awards have recognized his work. He is director of the Habitat International Association of Architects, Region III – North and South America.

He has lectured extensively, including at the Mexican Academy of Architecture, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the University of the State of Mexico, the Polytechnic of Mexico, the University of Zacatecas, the Institute Torroja in Spain, the University of Grenoble-France, the Centre George-Pompidou in Paris, and at universities in Columbia, Ecuador and China.
