ADVISORY BOARD

The Center for Urban Development Studies' Advisory Board has been formed to broaden the Center’s linkages to the professional community interested in sustainable urban development. Through programmatic and financial support from the Board, the Center will be able to increase its action research initiatives and continue its participation in international networks. These two activities are essential to the Center’s ability to integrate timely issues into its International Education Programs and Design School courses such as Strategic Planning and Local Development, Strategies for Social Inclusion and Development and Studios such as a Revitalization Strategy for New Bedford, Massachusetts.

December 2003 Advisory Board Dinner at the Harvard Fogg Art Museum

The Board members share an interest in shaping a sustainable urban environment in different regions and countries. Members will participate in the Center’s mission to generate cutting-edge ideas that improve the planning and management of urban areas.

We are anticipating two Advisory Board meetings a year, one in Cambridge and the second at another location. Each meeting will focus on a thematic issue: research activities conducted by the Center, emerging trends in urban management and governance, innovative best practices documented by the Center. The meetings held at the GSD will facilitate exchanges among the Board members, and faculty and students at the Design School. Separate events organized in other countries will allow the Board to familiarize themselves first hand with the Center’s activities in the field.
