Scenic Highway Route
Of special importance to the alternative futures is a proposal to designate 210km of existing and planned roads in the study area as a scenic highway. As seen in figure 116, a tour of this route, and its optional links through Camp Pendleton and into the Temecula vineyard region, will enable visitors and residents to experience the unique and diverse landscapes of southern California. The route links many of the regionŐs visual, ecological, and cultural resources and acts as a rural connector to the regional transportation spine of Interstate-15. There is a symbolic value as well. The route can strengthen the sense of this area as a single region.
