Study FrameworkOur study was guided by Carl Steinitz's six question framework. Even though the website allows random access, as you will see later, this presentation follows the six questions. First, how is the landscape described? We will describe the study area, its past history, and its current conditions. Second, How does the landscape operate? We will describe the five key processes which guided our designs. Third, Is the current landscape working well? We will describe our evaluations of risks and opportunities. Fourth, How might the landscape be altered? We will present six site areas and propose projects for them, followed by five regional alternatives based on the site level projects. Fifth, What predictable differences might the changes cause? Here we will discuss the impacts of our proposed changes based on the five regional evaluations. Finally, How should the landscape be changed? Here we will present the summary of our impacts and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each alternative future for the Gartenreich.
