This photo was taken at a family gathering celebrating
my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, held on a warm August day at Mark
and Jane Bennett's country cottage in the forests of Bozrah, Connecticut.
In the photo are (left to right): Jane, Maddie Lea (the newest addition
to the family), Paul, Cathy, Laurie, Doug, Mom (Madeline), Dad (Bob Sr.),
Me (Bob the definitive version), and Lynn. Jane's husband Mark is
taking the picture.
Here are Mom and Dad just before cutting the
cake. They were married in August 1947 after Dad returned from a
stint in the Navy. In four years they had three kids and a house
outside Syracuse, New York. Three more kids followed at five year
intervals and moves to Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Broad Brook, Connecticut.
In the mid 60's they finally setteled in a Cape Cod house on Marshall Road
in Windsor Locks, Connecticut (the picture within this picture) where they've
lived ever since..
Lynn and Paul both live in the area around my folks
home, as do Doug & Laurie who recently bought a small house and a large
dog in Enfield. Jane and Mark live in Bozrah in the eastern wilderness
of Connecticut (you can see their house in the background.. Cathy
lives in New Jersey but works at Penn State. I live in a triple decker
house in Somerville, Ma. (see my roommate ad), and work at Harvard.
There's
One In Every Family
This is my brother Doug. who really knows how to put
the "tart" in Tartan. His outfit is a bit of Scotch evening wear
suitable for dying in the muck on the fields of Culloden. With him
is his pet bat, especially rented for the occasion (actually he tells me
the bat is the King's Falcon, and the King was none too pleased that he
filched it). He is active as a Revolutionary war reenactor (as we
all remember the American Revolution was fought primarily by out of shape
middle aged guys with nothing better to do on weekends) Doug also
sells period clothing and accessories under the name of Elisha
Bull (whoever he was).

I
had mentioned Richard Angilly on the Crest and Curse Page as being the
only Angilly in Books in Print, so when he was in town recently he hunted
me down. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Natica who runs
a Poetry Dance Theatre Company which includes Richard and fellow poet Mary
Rudge. They put out a calendar in support of the troup and Natica has published
a book called "Dancing Poetry" making her the second Angilly in Books in
Print

John Angilly and
his wife Carolyn live with their two sons Carl and Luke in Chorley, Lancaster,
England and were originally very surprised to find out they had relations
across the pond. We've been comparing family historys over the last
year and found some ancestors in common and are trying to patch together
what we know of our two families. No No No ! Well at least twice
no. Carolyn yes. In the picture are John, Carolyn and Luke (who looks like
Carl but is 4 years younger).
John recently
sent me this picture of some Angilly's taken sometime between 1870-1900.
Don't know who they are but we think they're Angilly's, either that or
the picture came with the frame. Doug also sent me a number of similarly
unidentified photos of early family members taken from the family bible.
If you know who any of these hansome people are e-mail me.
