Under Construction
The discography below by links to individual pages for each album with
Covers, Track Listings, the Original Liner Notes, including Deke's when
available, and a short Commentary on each album. Thought this would be a
simple project but as I was wrapping up creating pages for every Man album
I had Point Records was formed and immediatly released 13 more albums, so
I had to go back and update all the pages. Also, Castle Communications
and others have found new and interesting ways of repackaging the two Pye
albums. Friends have been sending me information about albums I never
knew existed. So if things are a little behind at this time, I hope
to get it updated as soon as possible (I'm looking forward to knee surgery
to give me a couple of weeks to catch up on my web pages). However,
if you know any information I don't have which should have, follow
the link at the bottom of this page to e-mail me directly.
Some of the images and liner notes include copyrighted material of
the band and their many record labels and are currently being used without
permission and probably beyond the bounderies of fair use. "It's easier
to apologize afterwards than to ask permission beforehand" --G. Keilor.
We hope that those involved will accept this practice in the the interest
of the free exchange of ideas (or advertising). So if you're one of those
being used and would rather not be let me know and I'll take them off. You
don't have to send lawyers from PRT, EMI, Firefly, Griffin Music, Garrison
or Deke to break my kneecaps. I can be very reasonable when threatened.
The "Grapes" review originally submited to Firefly
Welsh group, very much influenced by the San Francisco guitar bands
of the Early Seventies especially Quicksilver. Started out as a pop/psychedelic
band in 68. Developed a multiple guitar sound in the early 70's after moving
to United Artists. Many personel changes over the years with Mickey Jones
on guitar, and Terry Williams on drums most of the time. Deke Leonard on
lead guitar when he wasn't being kicked out-- this happened twice). Martin
Ace, Tweke Lewis, John Cippolina, and Malcolm Morely have been members. Recently
reformed and still great.
Other great Man resources on the WWW (also Under Construction) are:
Northdown Publishing
is a small British publisher who publish Deke's books and a number of other
publications about some of the not-so-famous English bands and artists of
the 60's, 70's and 80's. They also publish The Welsh Connection
Michael Heatley's bimonthly newsletter.
Joan Gonzalez has set up a Man Page in Barcelona in
English mostly with lots of recent pictures of the band and rare singles (many
of which I would give my eye teeth for).
The Man Desktop Theme
for Windows 95™ Plus™
by Chris Daniells. Comes complete with Background files from "Slow
Motion" and "Welsh Connection" and an assortment of Sound Clips to associate
with Windows happenings. Some assembly required.
Georgie's
Home Page for MAN -- The Welsh Connection Is a new page out of Germany.
Be Good To Yourself
At Least Once A Day Is
another page out of Germany, this time mostly in Germany.
The
Manband Archive is a new page set up by Julian Gough with a very complete
discography and history of the band, and shameless use of frames, animated
gifs, and those java script special effects, which make my page look like
a Hong Kong new kiosk by comparison. Guess software engineers must
have a lot of free time on their hands.
The Manband Mailing
List has just been set up at a commercial site. Julian and
Geordie are there and it's a good place to get news of new and upcoming releases.
There is a movement afoot (or more exactly on-line)
to produce and release a Man Tribute
Album. Pete Gifford is organizing
it, and you can read all the details through his web page.
The Man Discography
Based in large part on my own collection, supplemented wherever possible
with information from Rock Record, Pete Tuck's discography from The
Welsh Connection, and inserts and catalogs from Repertoire Records and
the Japanese release of "Rhinos". All are LP's except where designated (cd).
All CD's are UK unless otherwise noted. Other European releases are noted
when the Catalog number or packaging is known to differ from the UK release.
