Students Tomas Folch and Daniel Ibanez shortlisted in international landscape competition to design park in Chile

Tomas Folch (MLAI AP) and Daniel Ibañez (MDesS, Urbanism, Landscape and Ecology) in collaboration with Rodrigo Rubio (Margen-Lab) have been shortlisted in the international landscape competition to design the 65Ha park called “Parque de la Ciudadania” in Santiago de Chile.

This park contest is promoted by the Government of Chile and seeks to define and build the new image, use and development of land in the National Stadium. This process is being developed in two open phases in order to ensure competition and better projects with the goal of having much of the work prepared for the South American Games ODESUR 2014. The contest is not only based on the current uses and condition of the place, but the opportunities for integration, sustainability and urban improvement that the new park can bring to the city of Santiago. Therefore, the main goal of the contest is to generate a new public park that integrates the scattered sports facilities that are located inside and link it with their urban environment and surrounding communities. After extensive deliberations, the Jury selected three proposals as finalists  for further development.
