Viking publishes children’s book by Deborah Freedman (MArch ’86)

Deborah Freedman (MArch ’86) left the practice of architecture to build worlds in children’s picture books. Her first book, Scribble, was published by Knopf in 2007. Blue Chicken was released by Viking in 2011 to three starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Booklist and School Library Journal, and was on Kirkus’s list of “Best Children’s Books of 2011.” Blue Chicken was also included last fall in “The Original Art” exhibit at the Society of Illustrators in New York. Debbie is currently at work on two more titles for Viking Children’s Books.
