Stefano Andreani (MDesS ’13) was a virtual presenter at the AA Visiting School at Rome on October 25. He discussed architectural applications of computational design and robotic technologies in ceramic-based material systems, his ongoing thesis project with the Design Robotics Group. He also presented research developed for his master’s thesis in Italy, an investigation and reinterpretation of the Italian architect Luigi Moretti’s 1960s theories and prototypes of Parametric Architecture.
The AA Rome Visiting School is a 10 day workshop arranged by the Architectural Association School, London. This year’s theme, “Form as Unknown (x),” investigates form-finding techniques and structural design through digital computation, inspired by the design methodologies of the Roman engineer Sergio Musmeci.
