The Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) recently announced their 2013 Honor and Merit awards with many Harvard Graduate School of Design alumni and faculty among the winners. All 2013 BSLA Honor Awards were awarded to GSD alumni.
Adjunct Professor of Landscape Architecture, Gary Hilderbrand (MLA ’85) FASLA, FAAR, and partner Douglas Reed (MLA ‘81) of Reed Hilderbrand won Honor Awards for “Poetry Foundation” in the Urban Design category, “Discovered Connections: Dallas Hacienda” in the Residential and Garden Design category, and for “MIT’s North Court ”in the College and University Design category. In addition, they received Merit Awards for “The Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion” in the category of Parks and Recreation Facilities and “Productive Landscape” in the category of Residential and Garden Design.
Adjunct Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture Chris Reed (AB ’91) of Stoss Landscape Urbanism won an Honor Award for “The City Deck” in the Waterfront Design category. In addition, he won a Merit Award for “Eerie Street Plaza” in the Waterfront Design Category.
Richard Burck (MLA ’85) of Richard Burck Associates, won an Honor Award for “Fan Pier Public Green and Streetscape” in the Waterfront Design category.
Mikyoung Kim (MLA ’92) of Mikyoung Kim Design won an Honor Award for “Stamford Environmental Magnet School” in the Pre-K through 12 Educational Facilities category.
Dennis Pieprz (MAUD ’85), Ming -Jen Hsueh (MLA ’09, MLAUD ’09), Tao Zhang (MPA ’10), Youngju Cho (MAUD ’10) and Martin Zogran (MAUD ’99) of Sasaki Associates won an Honor Award for “Songzhuang Arts and Agriculture City.”
Dennis Pieprz (MAUD ’85) and Alexis Canter (MLA ’10) of Sasaki Associates won a Merit Award for “Midtown Detroit Techtown District.”
Gina Ford (MLA ’03), Briana Zabel Hensold (MUP ’07), Eamonn Hutton (MLA ’10), Taekyung Kim (MLA ’13), and Stephen Gray (MAUD ’08) of Sasaki Associates Inc. won an Honor Award for “Bridgeport Park Master Plan.”
Stephen Stimson (MLA ’87) of Stephen Stimson Associates won an Honor Award for “Northeast Harbor” in the Residential and Garden Design Category and a. He also won a Merit Award for “Mary Soo Hoo Park” in Parks and Recreation Facilities. Edward Marshall (MLA ’86), Annie Gilson (MLA ‘02) and Stephen Stimson also won a Merit award for and “UCONN Academic Buildings” in the College and University Design category.
Nina Chase (MLA ’12) won an Honor Award for Student Work for “Slip District: Chicago’s Testing Ground for Water Industry.” Her GSD studio instructor was Philip Enquist.
GSD Lecturer in Urban Planning and Design, David Gamble (MAUD ’97), Cherilyn Frances Ruane (MLA ’01), and Letitia A. Tormay (MLA ’99) of Spurr, Weston & Sampson’s Design Studio won a Merit Award for “Sanford Millyard.”
