A new Center for Green Buildings and Cities at the GSD

The GSD will establish the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities as one of the three major University initiatives supported by Evergrande Group, an integrated industry leader based in China. The Center will provide an extraordinary new venture for collaborative and cross-disciplinary research that will have a significant and productive impact for the future of the built environment.

Professor Ali Malkawi, whose work focuses on energy conservation, computational simulation and sustainability in buildings, will direct the new Center. Professor Malkawi will work with Professor Richard Freeman from FAS to co-direct the economic portion of the Center. Other members of the GSD faculty, including Professors Martin Bechthold, Kiel Moe, and Holly Samuelson, will also be involved.

For further information on these initiatives, please see the Harvard Gazette announcement and look out for additional updates about the Center as it is established.
