Rahul Mehrotra featured in Section Cut launch

Section Cut, a new website for design students, emerging practitioners and design educators, recently launched its new “Giants!” series with a profile of Rahul Mehrotra (chair and professor of urban planning and design). The profile hails Mehrotra’s recent publication Architecture in India: Since 1990, a bibliography of the teachers, events and artifacts that influenced his inclusive style. Editorial director Dan Weissman (MDesS ’12) wrote, “Rahul was an obvious first choice for us. We highly respect his work – both in practice and within the academy – and many in our community aspire to his abilities to mediate between those worlds. He’s a true mentor.”

Section Cut aspires to be a mentor, too. The website presents a thoughtfully curated collection of print and web resources and other tools for the design field. The “Giants!” series adds another dimension by engaging influential thinkers and practitioners. The website has a “How To” section, and soon there will be an “In Real Life” section (“everything from pens to places”) and a video archive of design lectures.

Even the site’s Disclosure Statement is actually a refreshingly accessible disclosure statement. You’ll want to have a look.
