The GSD Exhibitions team activates a variety of spaces throughout Gund Hall to highlight the work and knowledge production of GSD students, faculty, and visiting scholars. Reflecting the School’s pedagogical mission, our exhibitions feature new research and showcase practices that are shaping the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, and urban design. We highlight both current and historical materials that address challenges and propose design solutions to the most pressing issues today. Exhibition Sites

  • Druker Design Gallery

    Located on the main floor of Gund Hall, the Druker Design Gallery comprises the School’s central public thoroughfare. It is the GSD’s largest and most prominent space for exhibitions.

  • Frances Loeb Library

    Exhibitions in Loeb Library utilize a variety of walls and display spaces on the main floor. Given the security and climate control of this area, this space often features materials that are archival or fragile in nature.

  • Experiments Wall

    Frequently used for posing questions or displaying focused research outcomes, the Experiments Wall comprises two walls facing each other in a corridor on the main floor.

  • Dean’s Wall

    Located opposite the Dean’s Office in a high-traffic area on the fourth floor of Gund Hall, this wall often displays vignettes around a single topic, idea, or project.

  • Exterior

    Installation sites on the exterior of Gund Hall include the front patio and the backyard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I propose an exhibition?

We welcome exhibition proposals from current faculty and enrolled students with the approval of their department chairs. For an exhibition proposal form, please email Dan Borelli, Director of Exhibitions (see below for contact information).

Successful proposals will demonstrate an interest in exploring or advancing a critical perspective on topics relevant to contemporary design and design discourse. In doing so, successful proposals also will seek to explore the role of exhibitions and curatorial practice as a means of discursive production, as expressed in its consideration of the status of the objects to be shown and engagement with the physical site through its exhibition and installation design.

How can I visit a GSD exhibition?

Gund Hall is open to the public on most weekdays. Please see the plan your visit here.

As a current GSD student, how do I obtain permission for a temporary installation?

Temporary installations are managed by the Facilities and Campus Operations team.

Can I borrow equipment from the GSD Exhibitions team for a student project?

Students should contact the FabLab for assistance in producing projects for GSD course. The Facilities team oversees temporary installations, and presentation equipment is available via Loeb Library. Equipment and materials overseen by the Exhibitions team are intended for GSD exhibition production only.

Information about past exhibitions can be found on the Exhibitions page. For exhibitions prior to 2014, please contact Frances Loeb Library.
