Contemporary Landscape Architecture of Korea and Politics
This will be the first one in a series on Korean landscape architecture, focusing on practice and through the lens of politics: the birth of this profession, how its education system evolved, how design competitions impacted practice, how politicians influenced the field ( both good and bad) and eventually, the lessons to project the future of landscape practice of Korea.
The instructor will give a lecture at the beginning of each class, for which she will distribute references to students in advance so they can be prepared for in-depth discussion. There will be several guests who are experts in public space policy and/ or design.
