Land Geometry

This course enables students to pursue digital literacy particular to the discipline of landscape architecture through the exploration of topographic manipulation, calculation and analysis. The course is separated into four parts that explore in parallel the design and digital representation of topographic elements. The first explores methods and procedures for the generation/invention of landform types, the second explores the transformation of types through subtraction and addition or intersection and combination, the third provides an approach for calculation and analysis, while the fourth addresses issues of visual communication, presentation, and construction. Participants will augment existing CAD skills through the acquisition of new tools for specialized analysis and visualization as well as explore new technologies that facilitate the translation of analog form to digital representation and its reverse.
