The aim of this studio is to investigate what each student participating believes to be their objects of desire. What values, function, form, language of visual effect or other instruments of meaning they embody and how these beliefs may inform a personal architecture. The fundamental exercise will be to take a critical look at what cultural signifiers we are producing today, what they mean, what their origins are and ultimately how we want them to evolve. We will be collectively looking for more questions than answers while simultaneously pushing each individual to define a personal position within the larger discourse and eventually design an architecture that addresses that position. I expect normative definitions of object, architecture, meaning, etc. to be challenged if not transformed.
