Transportation Policy and Planning

Prerequisites: GSD 5203, or equivalent introduction to microeconomics. This course provides an overview of the issues involved in transportation planning as well as an introduction to the skills necessary for solving the various problems particular to this area of study. Five topics are examined in detail: demand or market estimation, costing and pricing, project evaluation and finance, environmental costs and other externalities, and public regulation of private carriers. Cases are drawn from a wide variety of urban and intercity modes of transportation.
