Alimentary Design Lecture: “The Distributed Winter & Other Edible Geographies”
Join writer and curator Nicola Twilley on a journey through the refrigerated warehouses of China, the smellscapes of Sheffield, and other edible geographies, as she describes her ongoing research tracing the way food shapes and is shaped by the built, natural, and cultural environment. Nicola Twilley is author of the Edible Geography blog; co-host of Gastropod, a new podcast looking at food through the lens of science and history; contributing writer at The New Yorker; and associate adjunct professor at Columbia University GSAPP, where she is teaching a new cross-disciplinary course on regional foodshed resilience in tandem with the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies in Mumbai. She is currently working on a book about refrigeration.
