Alumni Event: Design Lecture & Reception in Jakarta

Join fellow  alumni + friends for an evening in Jakarta with Felipe Correa MAUD ’03, associate professor of Urban Design. Correa also serves as Director of the Master of Architecture in Urban Design and Director of the Master of Landscape Architecture in Urban Design at the GSD. His design lecture, Elective Affinities: Architecture Across Scales in the Contemporary City, will be followed by a reception. Connect with fellow alumni, current GSD students participating in the AECOM sponsored option studio, Jakarta: Models of Collective Space for the Extended, and experience an exhibit of work related to the studio.

With the unprecedented metropolitan growth Jakarta has witnessed throughout the last 50 years, Correa’s Spring 2016 advanced option studio examines the role of new mass transit infrastructure as a driver for new models of collective space. Correa and his students are focusing on the architectural and urbanistic potential of the metro station as a catalyzer of new programmatic centralities and considering how a mixed programmatic brief paired with a precise design intervention can redefine a broader urban landscape.
