Caroline Shannon de Cristo and Pedro Henrique de Cristo, “Architectures of Urban Integration in Latin America”
This talk marks the opening of the exhibition, curated by Caroline Shannon de Cristo and Pedro Henrique de Cristo, supported by the Julia Amory Appleton Traveling Fellowship, 2013 edition. This exhibition will display field research featuring 30+ projects in six Latin American cities, analyzed in terms of architectural design, urban strategy, related public policies, technological properties, and impact and evolution over time. This research points to what has and has not worked in the process of urban integration, sustainability and resilience. The exhibition also includes several projects that demonstrate how this learning has been directly applied in the urban laboratory (RioLab)—the delimited space of the Favela of Vidigal in Rio de Janeiro—delivering concrete results through design practice and bridging the pursuits of aesthetic excellence, social function, and technological innovation.
There will also be a reception this evening at 6:00 p.m. in front of the exhibit on the fourth floor lounge.
