GSD Talks: “Rosetta Elkin in Conversation with Charles Waldheim”

Rosetta Elkin’s teaching and research at Harvard GSD, where she is a Lecturer in Landscape Architecture, focuses on innovative applications of ecological and vegetative technologies that consider the role of plants from innovative seed mechanics to bionetworks. Rosetta also teaches in the core studio sequence and leads seminars in graphic representation and phytogeography.

Elkin is a registered landscape architect in the Netherlands, where she is the principle of rse-landscape, a design studio that was founded in 2007 and operates as a design studio and consultancy. Her work has been featured internationally, including installations at Les Jardins de Metis, CASLA, and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and in publications such as Topos MagazineLotus International, and Conditions. Her current research is focused on the historic and geopolitical procedures of using live matter to address complex urban and rural issues. Her work has received numerous awards, and is funded by Fonds BKVB (NL) and The Graham Foundation for the Arts (US). Rosetta has also taught at the Academie Bouwkunst and Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam.
