Lecture by Andrew Witt, “Concurrent Design”
Andrew Witt
Director of Research, Gehry Technologies
Designers have the unprecedented opportunity to comprehensively control the design and construction process through digital tools that allow the tight integration of the intelligence, analytics, and constraints of virtually all aspects of a project. At the core of this opportunity is the process of concurrent design, which allows many players to simultaneously embed, modify, and use logics and rules of design and fabrication processes much earlier than usual. This lecture presents recent work on projects from Jean Nouvel, Asymptote, Frank Gehry, and others that demonstrates these new methods of concurrent design in the context of professional practice.
