Building Middle Income Housing in Emerging Markets: Lessons from Brazil, India, and Elsewhere

Kenneth Munkacy, who has worked on real estate investments and/or managed real estate operating companies in 16 countries, oversees international investments the GID International Group, which invests in vertically integrated real estate operating companies and development projects in high growth international markets. In addition to providing equity and preferred equity to joint venture development projects, GID International has also invested in companies that provide structured financing, asset management and development services in Brazil and India. Seeking to capitalize on the rapid demand for middle income housing and mispriced risk in emerging markets, GID has provided funding for several real estate ventures and has approximately 3 million square feet of residential development underway in Brazil and India and is pursuing additional investment and development opportunities in emerging markets including Brazil, selected South American countries and India.
