Daniel Hernandez

Design Critic in Urban Planning and Design

Daniel Hernandez is a real estate developer, planner, and project manager, the founder of Topology and the previous managing director of the Jonathan Rose Companies. He has extensive experience in all phases of project development, including financing complex development and redevelopment projects, project design, community planning, environmental design and traditional neighborhood development approaches to urban revitalization.

With a MArch from UCLA, Hernandez has worked in the for-profit, non-profit, and public sectors, and has participated in creating national policy and certification programs addressing sustainable urban development. His teaching and lectures focus on social innovation, sustainability, and the redevelopment of urban places. He is committed to community development and to building on the strengths of place-based assets to create value and place-making solutions.
