How to Use S.E.R.T: Helpful Terms and Reservation Templates
A reference of helpful S.E.R.T terms and the different types of reservations available to GSD groups.
Helpful Terms
Reserve – create an automatic reservation for a space that does not need to be reviewed by our team. Rooms you can reserve will be confirmed if they are available and have no service requests, for example, the Loeb Library Collaboration spaces.
Request – submit a request to the Building Services team or the Events Committee for review. Rooms you can request are often multipurpose or event spaces, especially those that require additional services, or spaces in Gund Hall which require review to coordinate with the academic course schedule.
Reservation – encapsulates all of the meta details about your event like name, event type, contact details, which are true for every individual date of your event. GSD Now information also lives at the reservation level.
Bookings – the individual occurrences of your event. Each booking holds its own information about dates, times, services, and rooms, and can be altered on an individual or global basis.
Reservation Templates
For Students:
Reserve Meeting Space for Current Term – Use this template to reserve off-hours meeting space for Zoom meetings, quiet work, etc.
Reserve PhotoLab – Use this template to reserve the PhotoLab.
Reserve MDes and DDes Spaces for Current Semester – Use this template to book MDes and DDes Spaces. These spaces are open to MDes and DDes students only.
Reserve Studio Desks – Use this template to book an unassigned studio desk.
For TAs/TFs:
Request Academic Space for Current Term – Use this template to request space for course or studio related bookings, like section meetings, lectures, and office hours, as well as academic meetings for TAs, TFs, and other fellows.
Current Semester, GSD Now Event Proposal Form – Use this template for larger or more complex events, as well as those open to the full GSD Community or to the public. Events in this form will be reviewed by the Events Committee.
For Staff/Faculty:
Request Space for Current Term – Use this template for meetings, small gatherings, and other events not open to the full GSD Community or to the public.
Current Semester, GSD Now Event Proposal Form – Use this template for larger or more complex events, as well as those open to the full GSD Community or to the public. Events in this form will be reviewed by the Events Committee.
GSD Now Academic Dates & Deadlines – Use this template to submit important deadlines and academic calendar dates (Note: this template does not allow you to book space).
For Student Groups:
Do not use SERT to submit requests for student groups. All student groups must make reservations via Engage. See the GSD Student Group Guide for more information.

For events submitted to the Planning Calendar Committee, please use the Current Term, GSD Now Event Proposal Form Template.
