Jeanne Gang, MArch ’93 among 2011 MacArthur Fellows

Jeanne Gang, MArch ’93, principal and founder of Studio Gang, has been named as a 2011 MacArthur Fellow. Gang was recently a Visiting Design Critic at the GSD; she is “an architect challenging the aesthetic and technical possibilities of the art form in a wide range of structures. Always responsive to the specific geography, social and environmental context, and purpose of each project, Gang creates bold yet functional forms for residential, educational, and commercial buildings.”
“The MacArthur Fellows Program awards unrestricted fellowships to talented individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction. There are three criteria for selection of Fellows: exceptional creativity, promise for important future advances based on a track record of significant accomplishment, and potential for the fellowship to facilitate subsequent creative work.”
