The studio abroad program at the GSD presents a unique approach to learning by offering students the opportunity for intense interaction with part-time faculty who are successful practitioners, in a setting near or in their design firms. Students continue their respective programs of study while living in a foreign city and are able to study and conduct research within their program curriculum while also pursuing research of personal interest that may relate to the site or location.
Studio abroad participants are determined by lottery on a semi-annual basis. Studio sites and instructors are carefully selected and are responsive to design and research trends throughout the world of architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning and design.
For students who do not study abroad but are still interested in either studying or working internationally, please see fellowship and internship opportunities available through the Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning and Design departments or view the GSD Course Directory to find courses or studios that incorporate site visits into their learning structure.
