The Beginnings of Design: Living Together with Other Buildings

Please note, this course has an irregular schedule. See below. It is a rare building that isn\’t affected by the presence of other buildings. During four separate weeks, I will illustrate this hypothesis with some of my recent projects, each of which presents a particular interpretation of this concept. We will see how buildings very often grow in continuity with other existing buildings and how this condition can influence the inception of a project. The four buildings we will consider are the Harvard LISE, the Columbia Laboratory building, the Deusto Library in Bilbao, and the Novartis Laboratories in Basel, Switzerland. This course meets on the following days:January, 26, 27, 28February, 23, 24, 25March 30, 31, April 1April, 20, 21, 22
