Arthur Huang (MArch ’04), co-founder of Miniwiz SED, has been selected as the first Taiwanese entrepreneur for the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Venture Fellows program.
Founded by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in cooperation with Fordham University, the Program aims to assist later-stage startup entrepreneurs in developing their business in New York City. Notable Fellows include the founders of foursquare, a popular social media app, and Etsy, the largest online trading place for handmade crafts. Winner of the Earth Award and Wall Street Journal Asian Innovations Award Finalist, Arthur Huang and the Miniwiz team will have the opportunity to exchange sustainability and entrepreneurial know-how with some of New York’s investors, serial entrepreneurs, CEOs, and promote Taiwan’s green industry potential.
Miniwiz Sustainable Energy Development has a deceptively simple approach to sustainability: 100% trash. No virgin material. By re-engineering waste material already extracted from our planet, we avoid further exploitation of our natural resources. Miniwiz utilizes Taiwan’s strength in waste management and manufacturing and produces a wide range of 100% trash-made products, from building material to iPhone cases. While all of the products are designed and manufactured in Taiwan, the principle of minimizing carbon footprint by maximizing material potential can be applied around the world.
