International architecture, planning, engineering, interior design and program management firm Leo A. Daly welcomes Dallas E. Felder, AIA, LEED AP (MArch ’96), as vice president and director of design for the Houston office.
Felder, formerly a senior designer with Morris Architects and HOK, brings 16 years of innovation and design leadership experience to Leo A Daly Houston. His body of work includes a broad range of projects with a focus on higher education and institutional, corporate-commercial development, healthcare, and various civic, cultural and government market types.
Most notably, Felder was lead designer for the LEED Platinum-rated King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) academic buildings and the KAUST campus library, which received national honors in the 2010 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment Top Ten Green Projects Awards and the 2011 AIA-American Library Association (ALA) Library Buildings Awards programs.
Other local projects include the LEED Platinum NASA Building 20 and the LEED Gold-rated SYSCO International Headquarters in Houston, the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, the Christus St. Elizabeth Ambulatory Care Center in Beaumont, and various projects within Houston’s San Jacinto College System and Lone Star College System.

In addition to an extensive portfolio of award-winning built work, Felder brings a passion for design innovation, exemplified through his exploration in national and international design competitions. In 2011, Felder led various independent design efforts resulting in multiple design awards, including runner-up in the Metropolis Magazine Next Generation Design Competition—an entry which recently garnered Boston Society of Architects recognition.
Felder’s design work has been feature in national and international publications, including Architecture, Architectural Record, Metropolis and Interior Design.
He received his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard Graduate School of Design and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan College of Architecture and Urban Planning. As an adjunct faculty member, he has taught design studio at the graduate and undergraduate architecture programs at Rice University and the University of Houston.
Felder is an active member of the AIA, the Texas Society of Architects and the Rice Design Alliance, and is founder of DAMH-Design Arts for Mental Health.
