Niall Kirkwood presents on the Theme of “Industrial Ecology: Strategy for Green Economy” in Korea

Niall Kirkwood, GSD Professor of Landscape Architecture and Technology, presented in June 2013 at the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE) Biennial Conference in Ulsan, Korea on the Theme of “Industrial Ecology: Strategy for Green Economy”. The conference was organized by chair Professor H. S. Park, University of Ulsan and Professor Marian Chertow of Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and was hosted by the University of Ulsan.

Kirkwood presented a lecture titled “Brown to Green: An Introduction to the Strategies, Tools and Techniques of Post-Industrial Land Regeneration” as a plenary speaker along with other plenary speakers: Ambassador Rae Kwon Chung, Climate Change Negotiator for Republic of Korea and chief contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Dr Rene Van Berkel, United Nations Industrial Development Organization and Professor Anu Ramaswami, Chair of Science, Technology and Public Policy, University of Minnesota.

The conference is an interdisciplinary forum for natural and social scientists, engineers, policymakers and practitioners that advances analysis methods, tools and solutions in pursuit of sustainable technology, systems and economies. Visit the Conference website.
