Description: This course will cover the basic techniques needed for building an interactive website. Structured around an experiment of visualizing geospatial-related information using web-based mapping library, the class aims to offer students hands-on skills in these aspects:
· Implementing your web design with (yours and other people\’s) code
· Communicating data through visuals and interaction
· Publishing your website
Specific topics include:
· Web design and programming: HTML, CSS, Javascript
· Data visualization: d3.js (http://d3js.org)
· Interactive mapping: Leaflet.js (http://leafletjs.com), Mapbox (https://www.mapbox.com)
· Responsive layout: Bootstrap (http://getbootstrap.com/javascript/)
Requirements: Some programming experience is highly recommended
