Harvard GSD alum and HBS student awarded Stamen Fellowships

This summer, Stamen Design of San Francisco introduced a Fellowship series in partnership with Gray Area Foundation for the Arts’ Creative Coding Fellowship, Autodesk and SPUR, nominating two Harvard students as fellows: GSD alum Andreas Viglakis (MAUD '14) along with HBS student Moira Forberg.

Career Discovery students take on local challenge

Career Discovery students investigating urban planning and design this summer are getting a crash course in how to redevelop a site. Under the guidance of Adrienne Matthews (MUP ’14), Lydia Scott (MUP ’14), and Beth Lundell Garver (MAUD ’14), the students are developing plans to reuse a large parcel of land that is currently home to a big-box store in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Urban planning students publish plan for Chelsea

Students from UPD’s second semester core urban planning studio have published “Connect Chelsea: Three Visions for a Gateway City,” a report of their recent work in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Their proposals range from converting industrial waterfront into parkland to incubating businesses, designed for lasting impact.

Ana Gelabert Appointed Advisor to to Zhuhai

Ana Gelabert-Sanchez (LF ’11, MLA) was selected to be part of a team of international advisors working with Zhuhai, China, to assist the city in becoming “one of the most habitable environmentally friendly waterside cities in Asia.” Read more in the LOEBlog.

Krzysztof Wodiczko lectures in Chile

Krzysztof Wodiczko (professor in residence of art, design and the public domain) recently presented his work in a public lecture in Santiago, Chile, as part of the ARTS@DRCLAS Overseas Faculty Series. The talk was the first phase of the Designing for Civic Engagement: Instruments of Expression, Dialogue and Collective Critique research project, exploring alternative forms of informal learning using new design technologies.
