Latin GSD Lecture: Ricardo Truffello, “Geographies of Social Conflict and Cohesion”

The lecture discusses different issues within the same territory by explaining the methodological and interdisciplinary process for an adequate urban diagnosis through multiple approaches. The explored geographies reveal an effective tool for the surveying and targeting of public policy through the generation of multi-scale functional indexes, segregation special indexes, spatial statistics and different spatial analysis techniques. In a deeply unequal city, as Santiago of Chile, the assessment given by the diagnosis will deepen the geographies of social conflict and cohesion understanding as urban theory concepts in tension with the urban phenomena, either from its conception or as a its consequence.

The lecture is part of the class, “Territorial Intelligence in Landscapes of Production” and is cosponsored by Latin GSD.
