Senior Loeb Scholar Lecture: Katherine Boo, “Innovation, Exploitation, and Documentation in the 21st-Century Slums”

Katherine Boo is a staff writer at the New Yorker and author of Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity (Random House), winner of the National Book Award and PEN/Galbraith Award. Her journalism, which combines immersive and investigative techniques in its focus on how social and economic policy affects disadvantaged communities, has been recognized with a National Magazine Award, a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. Along with writer Sunil Khilnani, Boo is a 2014 Senior Loeb Scholar at Harvard GSD.
