Symposium: Beyond the White Cube
Professor Farshid Moussavi, with special guests Jan Aman, Achim Borchadt Hume, and Paul Ha will examine the relationship between the Space of Architecture and Art in the future of the contemporary Art Museum. The panel will raise the paradigm that states that the museum should seek ‘a segregation of Architecture Form + Institutional function’ in order to open an inquiry on whether architecture can simultaneously provoke art while maintaining curatorial flexibility. The discussion will also raise broader questions as how the Contemporary Art museum can become an active player in the Urban Society and speculate as to the Architect’s role in facilitating these broader objectives of the Museum.
Jan Aman is Creative director of the Stockholm Exhibition 2010-2013
Achim Borchadt Hume is Curator of White Chapel Gallery, London, UK
Paul Ha is Director of MIT’s List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, MA
Farshid Moussavi, Professor in Practice at Harvard Graduate School of Design, is Principal and Founder of Farshid Moussavi Architects
