Symposium: “Waste”

This two-panel symposium explores the confrontation of waste with design ingenuity. The projects and practices to be presented reflect diverse approaches across a wide range of scales, from architecture to urbanism, from recycling to agriculture and consumption. In each case design is deployed in a way that shifts our perspective on a material as a waste or resource.

A postponed second session of the symposium, to be rescheduled, will feature a lecture by Frank O. Gehry on architecture’s capacity and future responsibility to limit waste in the design and performance of buildings.

Convened by Frank O. Gehry and Mohsen Mostafavi.
