UPD Lecture: Gustavo Petro, Mayor of Bogota “The Political Struggle for a Sustainable and Inclusive City”
Mayor of Bogota, Colombia. Period 2012 – 2015. Gustavo Petro holds a degree in eco- nomics and undertook advanced studies on the environment in Belgium at the University of Louvain as well as in public administration. Currently he has revised Bogotá s territorial plan (POT).
His main governance focus has been on access to water, and more recently he has tackled relations between transportation and land use. Among Petro s recognitions, he was awarded with the “International Youth Fellow- ship” for his commitment to the youth of Colombia.
He has also been awarded with the “City Climate leadership awards” in 2013 by C40 and Siemens in the Transportation category.
