UPDATE: The Harvard Graduate School of Design will not be taking applications for the 2021 Daniel Urban Kiley Teaching Fellowship. The next planned round of applications will be due in early 2022.
The Daniel Urban Kiley Teaching Fellowship in Landscape Architecture is awarded annually to an emerging designer, whose work articulates the potential for landscape as a medium of design in the public realm. The Kiley Fellow will be appointed Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design for the following academic year, and is expected to be in full-time residence from August 15 through May 30. While the fellowship will be awarded competitively on an annual basis, successful fellows are eligible to have their academic appointments renewed for a second year at the rank of Lecturer, dependent upon review of their teaching, research, and creative practice.
The Kiley Fellowship builds upon the GSD’s history of pedagogic innovation, as well as the Department of Landscape Architecture’s century of leadership in landscape education. This initiative is intended to recognize and foster emerging design educators, who are considering an academic career in landscape architecture and who are interested in advancing contemporary discourse through pedagogy in core and elective curricula.
Landscape architects and designers from a range of allied design professions, who can demonstrate a significant engagement with landscape architecture practice, pedagogy, or scholarship are invited to apply.
A jury composed of members from the GSD faculty will select the fellow. The two-stage application process will identify a shortlist of three finalists, who will be interviewed by the jury. They will recommend a winner to be announced in late Spring.
Please submit the following application materials as attachments to email@example.com in the form of a single PDF, no larger than twenty-five megabytes, labeled “Lastname_Firstname.pdf”:

All documents submitted through the application process will become the property of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and may be used, with proper attribution, at a future date by the School for noncommercial purposes in any media or format.
