Boston Redevelopment Authority, Boston, MA
by Holly Masek (MUP ’13)
The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) is Boston’s municipal planning and development agency. Its activities include planning, economic development, urban design, research, and development approval. As an intern in the Urban Design Department, Holly witnessed Boston’s design review process firsthand and contributed to design review research related to Millennium Towers and New Brighton Landing, two significant developments slated to break ground in late 2012.
She worked with the Downtown Boston BID, Boston’s first Business Improvement District, and contributed to an RFP for new Wayfinding and Streetscape Design Standards. She will continue working on this RFP into the fall, as the BRA and BID begin to review the proposals and implement related pilot projects.
