GSD Policy on Pets and Animals

The GSD recognizes the important role of pets in the lives of some staff, faculty and students.  However, in keeping with maintaining a safe and healthful work and learning environment for all, the GSD does not permit pets in any of our buildings, including all leased office space.  For the purposes of this policy, pets include dogs, cats, fish, amphibians, reptiles, insects, birds, etc.  Please note:  In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, exceptions to this policy may be made for a trained service animal or service animal in training, to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.  

Areas of Campus Where Pets/Animals Are Allowed:  

  • Outdoors, on leash or under the control and in the presence of the pet owner.  (Note:  Pets may not be left unattended outside GSD buildings, tied or untied.) 
  •  Classrooms and instructional facilities when animals are used for wellness programs.
