The Hyatt Foundation announced that Toyo Ito will be the recipient of the 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize. The Tokyo-based architect has recently taught studios on post-tsunami reconstruction and temporary housing at the GSD. He is recognized for producing an outstanding body of work that combines conceptual innovation with superbly executed buildings.

The Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank, has announced the inauguration of the Infrastructure 360° Awards, the first infrastructure sustainability awards in Latin America and the Caribbean. Andreas Georgoulias (lecturer in architecture and Zofnass Program research director) will be leading this effort for the GSD side.
Peter Del Tredici (adjunct associate professor of landscape architecture and senior research scientist at the Arnold Arboretum) will receive the Veitch Memorial Medal of the Royal Horticultural Society in London this spring. The award recognizes his outstanding and extensive work in botany and horticulture over the past forty years.
