Alumni Council – Alan Altshuler Fund for Financial Aid

Established in 2007 by members of the GSD Alumni Council to honor Alan Altshuler, former Dean of the Faculty of Design, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Gregory S. Baldwin Fellowship

Established in 2012 by the Baldwin family through the Lamb-Baldwin Foundation in honor of Gregory S. Baldwin AB ’62, MArch ’66, MAUD ’67, the fellowship provides financial assistance for a top-performing GSD student enrolled in their final semester of study in the Master in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Design programs.

Walker Beale Scholarship

Established in 1958 through a bequest by Marie Beale in memory of her late husband's son, Walker Beale AB 1918, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Professor Bill Breger MArch ’45 Fund in Honor of Professor Walter Gropius

Established in 2014 by Krystyna and Bill Breger MArch ’45 in celebration of the GSD's 75th anniversary and Professor Breger’s 90th birthday, the fellowship honors the legacy of Dr. Gropius by providing financial aid for GSD students in the Master in Architecture program who are working in the spirit of Dr. Walter Gropius.

Mario Ciampi Scholarship

Established in 2010 through a bequest by Mario Joseph Ciampi GSD ’33, the fund provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program.

Araldo A. Cossutta MArch ’52 Fund for Financial Aid

Established in 1986 by Araldo Cossutta MArch ’52, the fund is a full-tuition, merit-based award given to a GSD student who has successfully completed the core program for the Master in Architecture program and whose design work consistently shows outstanding promise.

Sally Emma Fellowship

Established in 2017 by Sanford Edward MDes '88 in honor of his mother, Sally Emma, the fund provides financial aid to students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Katherine G. Farley MArch ’76 Fellowship

Established in 1999 in honor of Katherine G. Farley March ’76, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students in the Master in Architecture program, with a preference for women.

Roger Ferris and Partners Fellowship

Established in 2016 by a Roger P. Ferris MDes ’93, LF ’92, the fellowship provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Marisa Fort Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2020 through a bequest by Dr. Harold C. Spear MD ’47 and Mrs. Suzanne Spear in honor of their granddaughter, Marisa Fort MArch ’06, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students in the Master in Architecture program who are from Florida.

Phil Freelon Fellowship

Established in 2016 by Perkins&Will in honor of Phil Freelon LF ’90, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students with the aim of opening access and expanding opportunities for underrepresented members of the GSD community.

Grounded Visionaries Alumni Council Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2017 by members of the GSD Alumni Council in honor of the Grounded Visionaries fundraising campaign, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Jack Gruber Fund for Financial Aid

Established in 1993 by David Henig MArch ’93, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Henry Browne Hoover Fellowship

Established in 1989 by family and friends in memory of Henry Browne Hoover MArch ’26, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students whose area of study is in residential architecture.

John Mead Howells Fellowship

Established in 1961 by Abby MacDougall White Howells in memory of her husband, John Mead Howells AB 1891, the fellowship provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program.

The Robert P. Hubbard Fellowship

Established in 2017 through a bequest by Robert P. Hubbard COL ’51, the fellowship supports GSD students who are graduates of Harvard College, from New Hampshire, and/or in the Master in Architecture program.

William O'Donnell Iselin Scholarship

Established in 1974 through a bequest by Elizabeth Cushing Iselin in memory of her husband, William O'Donnell Iselin, the fund provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program.

Japan Alumni Financial Aid Fund

Established in 1991 by alumni and friends, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

John E. Johnson, Ph.D., and Etta G. Johnson Fellowship

Established in 2020 by Carrie Alice Johnson MArch ’93 in honor of her parents, John and Etta Johnson, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students with the aim of opening access and expanding opportunities for underrepresented members of the GSD community who are from the United States.

George Barr Kayser and Lillian Burke Kayser Scholarship Fund

Established in 1984 through the bequest Lillian Burke Kayser in memory of her husband, George Barr Kayser AB 1914, MArch 1917, the fund provides financial aid to GSD students who reside either in the state of Massachusetts or the state of New Hampshire.

George Barr Kayser Scholarship

Established in 1972 through the bequest of Elizabeth Barr Kayser in memory of her brother, George Barr Kayser AB 1914, MArch 1917, the fund provides financial aid to GSD students in the Master in Architecture program.

Edward H. Kendall Bequest

Established in 1935 through a bequest by Edward H. Kendall COL 1902, the fund provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program.

Fred Koetter Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2014 by Peter Coombe MArch ’88 and Betty Chen AB ’87 in honor of Fred Koetter, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students.

Edward M. Lamont Financial Aid Fund

Established in 1981 by Edward M. Lamont Sr. AB ’48, MBA ’51, the fund provides financial aid for incoming students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Louise LeLand Architectural Fund

Established in 1994 through a bequest by Louise Leland, Kentucky's first female architect, the fund provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program with a preference for women.

Professor William J. LeMessurier Fellowship

Established in 2007 by LeMessurier Consultants Inc. in memory of Professor William J. LeMessurier AB ’47, GSD ’49, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Brenda A. Levin Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2007 by Lynn C. Schneider MArch ’77 to honor Brenda A. Levin MArch ’76, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students whose area of study is in architecture and real estate, with a preference for women.

Paul C. K. Lu MLA ’67 Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2016 by Mark Lu and Professor Vivian E. Shih, MD, AM ’98 in memory of his late father and her late husband, Paul Lu, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students whose area of study is in sustainability.

Stephen C. Markoe Memorial Fund

Established in 1944 through a bequest by Frances E. Markoe in memory of his son, Stephen C. Markoe, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students in the Master in Architecture program.

Nagle-Johnson Family Fellowship

Established in 2018 by Perkins&Will in honor of Ralph Johnson MArch ’73 and Kathleen Nagle MArch ’87, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students with the aim of opening access and expanding opportunities for underrepresented members of the GSD community.

C. William Palmer Fellowship

Established in 1966 through a bequest by C. William Palmer, the fellowship provides financial aid for students in the Master in Architecture program.

Thomas Payette Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2017 by Leon Drachman MAUD ’93 and Kevin Sullivan MArch ’94 in honor of Thomas Payette MArch ’60, the founder of Payette Associates, the fund provides financial aid to GSD students in the Master in Architecture or Master of Architecture in Urban Design programs.

Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation, Inc. Community Service Fellowship

Established in 1986 by the Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation, the fellowship provides financial aid to graduates of Harvard College who demonstrate a talent for and commitment to public service careers.

Alexander Phillips Bequest

Established in 1962 through a bequest by Alexander Phillips, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students in the Master in Architecture program.

Harry and Penelope Seidler Financial Aid Fund

Established in 2005 by Penelope and Harry Seidler MArch ’46, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Eduard Sekler Fellowship

Established in 2005 by former GSD students of Professor Eduard Sekler, Emeritus Professor of Architecture, and Emeritus Osgood Hooker Professor of Visual Art, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students in the MArch II, MAUD, MDes, and DDes degree programs with a proven interest in the history, theory, criticism, historic preservation of architecture and/or urban design in Europe and non-western countries.

Josep Lluís Sert Scholarship Fund

Established in 1968 by alumni and friends in honor of Josep Lluís Sert's retirement as dean of the GSD, the fund provides financial aid for students attending the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

David Kenneth Specter Fellowship

Established in 2013 by family in memory of David Kenneth Specter AB ’52, MArch ’58, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students in the MArch I program who aim to study contemporary urbanism from an international perspective.

Spiro Fellowship Program

Established in 1981 by Lionel B. Spiro AB ’60, MArch ’63, the fellowship provides financial aid for GSD students with a preference for students working across disciplines.

James G. Stockard, Jr. MCP ’68, LF ’78 Fund

Established in 2015 by alumni and friends of the Loeb Fellowship program in honor of Jim Stockard MCP ’68, LF ’78, former curator of the Loeb Fellowship, the fund provides financial aid for GSD students who demonstrate a professional interest in affordable housing and community development.
