Jennifer Siegal, Designing for Liberty

It should come as no surprise that Jennifer Siegal (LF ’03), whose Office of Mobile Design is known for sustainable design and innovative mobile structures, led a prize-winning team in the “Designing for Free Speech” challenge. Krzysztof Wodiczko lectures in Chile

Krzysztof Wodiczko (professor in residence of art, design and the public domain) recently presented his work in a public lecture in Santiago, Chile, as part of the ARTS@DRCLAS Overseas Faculty Series. The talk was the first phase of the Designing for Civic Engagement: Instruments of Expression, Dialogue and Collective Critique research project, exploring alternative forms of informal learning using new design technologies.

Spread out across the globe to engage in summer research and employment, numerous GSD Urban Planning and Design students are embracing the bicycle as a means of commuting to work. Jonathan Goldman and Ginny Keesler (both MUP ’15) have encountered both challenges and rewards while cycling to their internships with the NYC Department of City Planning.

Niall Kirkwood launches joint Irish research initiative

Niall Kirkwood (professor of landscape architecture and technology) recently inaugurated a joint research initiative, “Urban Ireland: The City of Belfast as a Laboratory of Change,” at the University of Ulster School of the Built Environment in Belfast, Northern Ireland. To commemorate the project launch, Kirkwood gave a keynote lecture this month at the University.
