Jon Hong (MArch '96) and Jinhee Park (MArch '02) of SsD recently received the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices Award. Emerging Voices spotlights individuals and firms based in the United States, Canada, or Mexico with distinct design voices and the potential to influence the disciplines of architecture, landscape design, and urbanism.

Betty Otto Joins the Market and Enterprise Program at the World Resources Institute

Betsy Otto (LF '07) recently joined the Markets and Enterprise Program at the World Resources Institute, a global environmental think tank in Washington, DC. She is directing WRI’s Aqueduct project, a global water risk assessment and mapping tool to inform private and public sector investment and water management decisions. The Aqueduct project team engages business, NGOs and governments for positive change in managing water resources worldwide.

Sculpture by Nathan King (DDes ’13) and Herbert Dreiseitl (LF ’11) Unveiled at Ann Arbor Municipal Center

A collaboration between Nathan King (DDes '13) and Herbert Dreiseitl (LF '11) yields a permanent sculptural installation at the newly constructed Ann Arbor Municipal Center. The sculpture, designed by Herbert Dreiseitl, consists of a vertical cast bronze element and a horizontal waterway that together carry water through the site. Nathan King has also been invited to give several lectures and collaborate on curriculum development for emerging programs in Design Research and robotic fabrication technologies.

Horizontal Systems Bought by Autodesk Inc.

Horizontal Systems, co-founded by CEO Jordan Brandy (DDes '08) and VP Ivan Panushev (DDes '08) was purchased by Autodesk Inc. for cloud-based computing and modeling software. Based in New York, Horizontal Systems provides Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs, which will be incorporated into Autodesk's 360 program, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Faculty to Speak at 100th Annual Meeting of ACSA

Two faculty members have been invited to speak at the 100th Annual Meeting of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture organized at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology March 1-4. Ingeborg Rocker, Associate Professor of Architecture and Coordinator of Digital Workshops at the GSD, will be on the conference's opening panel alongside Sanford Kwinter, Co-Director of the Master in Design Studies Program and Professor of Architectural Theory and Criticism at the GSD.

Chee Pearlman to Curate TED Conference Session on Design

Chee Pearlman (Loeb Fellow '11) will join architect David Rockwell of Rockwell Group in curating 'The Design Studio," a session on design and creativity at this year's TED Conference in Long Beach, California on March 1. The session will feature a range of contributors to explore creative development, design innovation, and using art and design to mold the human experience.
