Sara Hendren (MDesS '13) edits Abler, a blog about “art, adaptive technologies and prosthetics, the future of human bodies in the built environment.” She was recently interviewed by Ana Avarez for the art & technology journal Rhizome, which is affiliated with the New Museum in NYC: Read Inside the Prosthetic Imaginary: An Interview with Sara Hendren.
Martin Bechthold, Professor of Architectural Technology and founder of the GSD's Design Robotics Group (DRG), and Nathan King (DDes candidate in Technology) will host a robot workshop at Rob|Arch 2012 in Graz.
Gary Hilderbrand (adjunct professor of landscape architecture, and John Beardsley (adjunct professor of landscape architecture and director of garden and landscape studies at Dumbarton Oaks) shared the stage in an evening of discussion at the Philip Johnson Glass House on September 20. Their dialogue focused on issues of "Procession" in Johnson's work at his New Canaan estate and other projects, and more broadly throughout modernist and traditional works.
Silvia Benedito (assistant in landscape architecture) and Alexander Häusler (MArch II '04) have been commissioned to develop “Stadt Park-Donau,” an urban park along the Donau River in Ingolstadt, Germany. The design team for the plan included Erik Anderson (MLA ’13), Michael Luegering (MLA ’13) and Carolyn Deuschle (MLA ’14).
Several MLA alumni and affiliates have been inducted into the 2012 ASLA Council of Fellows.
Alda Çapi Black (MArch ‘11) is heading to Tirana, Albania, to accept first place award in the MOBILIciTY international competition for design of the city’s transportation station. Her collaborator is Chris Masicampo (MArch '12).

GSD students transformed a parking space on Cambridge Street into a miniature park for national Park(ing) Day on September 21. It quickly filled with community members who stopped to talk, play music and eat free ice cream.
MUPs mingled with planning professionals at the Southern New England American Planning Association conference last month in Hartford, where they attended sessions on sustainability, transportation, land use, and public participation.
There will be a strong MDesS presence at the 2012 Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) conference in San Francisco on October 18-21.
