Howeler+Yoon designed BSA Space opens

Eric Howeler of Howeler+Yoon Architecture has recently completed the new BSA Space at the Atlantic Wharf in Boston. A striking green "cloud" ceiling and dropped stair invites visitors to the meeting space and 6,000sf exhibition space dedicated to architecture and design.

Wang Shu Awarded the 2012 Pritzker Prize

Wang Shu is the first architect in China to be awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, and at 48, the fourth youngest. The architect is celebrated for his commitment to China’s history in a time of rapid development, integrating salvaged materials in experimental modern forms.

Viking publishes children’s book by Deborah Freedman (MArch ’86)

Deborah Freedman (MArch '86) has left the practice of architecture to build worlds in children's picture books. Blue Chicken was released by Viking in 2011 to three starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Booklist, and School Library Journal, and was on Kirkus's list of "Best Children's Books of 2011".

Over the weekend of February 9, Yale School of Architecture hosted the symposium "Is Drawing Dead?" to question the historic role of drawing in an architectural practice now focused on parametric modeling, computational design, digital design and fabrication, and Building Information Management (BIM).

Spedstudio to design Aalst Masterplan

Venice-based Spedstudio, founded by Saverio Panata (MArch '08), has won the competiton for the Aalst masterplan in Belgium. The integrated schematic design for 40 hectares will include 800 dwellings.
