Grace La (MArch ’95), Professor of Architecture and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), has been named a recipient of the 2026 Women in Design Award of Excellence by the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA).
Presented annually by the BSA’s Womxn in Design (WiD) community, the award recognizes individuals whose work demonstrates excellence in design, whose creative processes reflect a commitment to collaboration, and whose professional achievements contribute to the advancement of design and the broader community. La is one of three recipients of the 2026 award, alongside Vickie Alani, principal and managing director at Perkins&Will, and Sarah N. Lindenfeld, managing principal at Payette.
La is an architect, educator, and cofounder of LA DALLMAN Architects, a practice she leads with James Dallman (MArch ’92). The firm’s work spans architecture, infrastructure, and public space, with projects recognized for their design innovation and civic impact. In 2026, LA DALLMAN has received several honors from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), including three AIA Florida Design Awards for the Door County Granary and Schwanke-Kasten Jewelers projects, as well as an AIA Wisconsin Design Award for the Nautilus House.

The 2026 Women in Design Award of Excellence recipients will be celebrated on December 2, 2026, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The event will also commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Women Principals Group, recognizing the contributions of women leaders in architecture and design.
