Carles Muro (Barcelona, 1964) is an architect and educator. He studied at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), where he graduated in 1991. He worked with Elias Torres and Jose A. Martínez Lapena in Barcelona, and Alvaro Siza in Oporto before setting up his private practice.
The work of his practice has been extensively exhibited and widely featured in international publications. Recently completed projects include the Public Market in Inca (Majorca), with Charmaine Lay, and the Health Care Centre in Tordera, near Barcelona.
Muro was Unit Master at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (London, 1996-1998), Director of the Masters Programme “Arquitectura: Crítica y Proyecto” at the UPC (Barcelona, 1998-2002), Professore a contratto at the Facolta di Architettura di Alghero (Sardinia, 2005-2006) and has been Visiting Professor at many schools worldwide. He was Design Critic in Architecture at the GSD in 2011 and has taught at the ETSAB in Barcelona since 1993.
In addition to teaching and practicing he has continuously contributed to the architectural debate through writings and publications. He has been a member of the Editorial Board of several architectural periodicals and director of the “Pre-Textos de Arquitectura” book series. A selection of his writings has been collected in the volume “Arquitecturas Fugaces” (Madrid, 2007).
